intel i5 4460 vs amd fx 8350

Solution
LOL intel wins handsdown

if u get the FX u will need to Overclock it to 5GHZ~4.5GHZ depending on what GPU u pair it with and prepare yourself for a huge power consumption

hell 2500K>9370FX if u could go with a 4690K i would opt for that as that is a guaranteed 5-6 years life without a bottleneck CPU wise coz u can oc it when u need more juice

The above appear to be Intel fanboys. In the vast majority of cases, Intel does provide better performance, but does cost more. When it comes to price/performance AMD wins hands down.

If your budget is relaxed, go with the 4460 - it will give you better performance in CPU intensive games.

If you have quite a tight budget, the AMD FX-8350 is ok, but you will get bottlenecks in CPU intensive games. In games that are more dependent on the GPU there won't be quite as much of a difference.

Yes it appears they are I own both I have 4 systems in my home, 8320 oc to 4.4 a g3258 oc to 4.4 a I 5 4690k not oc and a 6600k APU .Now if you are wanting to stay under 200 bucks either the 4460 or a 8320 will do you just fine you wont be able to oc the 4460 much because its the NON K version ..The 8320 from AMD is more less a 8350 just oc it and you saved some money add that extra money towards a better GPU ...If you do go the route of the intel you will pay more regaurdless and I would suggest the 4690k as you will be able to oc it a lot but it has a higher price tag of 239 then you are best off to pair it with a z97 board to get the best results from the I5 4690K.
So I hope this has helped you some BTW EITHER THE 8350 or the 4460 you will want a after market heatsink because they run a tad hot a 212 evo from cooler master is a good start.

^ im not intel fan boy by any means i actually prefer AMD cards instead of Nvidia coz of the price performance as i dont care about power consumption or noise

amd used to be good in the CPU market but then they FX'ed them selves in the knees so u could say intel is monopolizing the CPU market

if AMD had decent CPUs like back in the good old days we would see the Unlocked I5 running for 180USD

also if u go with an FX you will need a board that supports Heavy Overclocking/has heatsink on the VRMS

IMO just grap an intel CPU+Asrock Motherboards if u want something cheap with awesome futures

EDIT:if u can squeeze some money and u want something that will live for 5~6 or more years with out bottleneck go with

4690K+Asrock Extreme4 or 3 u can always get the CPU cooler whenever u feel like Overclocking

If price is equal:

i5 4460 cannot be overclocked

FX 8350 can be overclocked

In gaming, both perform very close at stock speeds, with the i5 winning some and the 8350 winning some. It depends on the age of the game and how many cores it can use.

In most modern games at stock speeds the difference is 3-5 FPS on average.

Overclocked, the FX 8350 will pull ahead of the 4460 a bit and run somewhere between the i5 4690k and i7 4670k in most workloads.

In crossfire or SLI, the FX 8350 scales better than the i5 and runs very close to an i7.

For streaming or video capture the 8350's extra cores greatly improve performance over an i5.

Hope this info helps. Bear in mind performance will vary depending on the games you play and the types of workloads you throw at these 2 CPUs. Set community generalizations aside and consider what you plan to do with the CPU before spending money on it.

Either Intel or AMD boards for a good build is going to be 100 or so per board to do overclocking if the OP wishes to do so Hell I had a cheep arse Biostar board a while back that I had a AMD 6100 in and it was over clocked like a mother and it was only 89 bucks so you don't need to spend 200 to 250 on a extreme board to get good results if that was the case he wouldn't be comparing a 4460 and a 8350 ?

Sorry I did not notice this question until recently.

It depends on the revision. My old UD3 was Rev 1 and no way can it support the 9590. No LLC = way too much voltage fluctuation.

BUT my particular 9590 was much more efficient with voltages and would probably have been just fine at stock speeds with reduced voltage.

Since this is highly dependent on the silicon lottery, I would go for a more robust board. too risky to use a board that is below spec. I'm currently using a water cooled Sabertooth 990FX and it's been great.
