I see that Qualcomm is Snapdragon. I guess I just thought that Intel would also make chips for phone because they are such a large namebrand.

Does intel make chips for phones?

Solution
Yes, Intel does make SoCs for smartphones, although it hasn't had as many design wins in phones as it has in tablets. Here's a few phones running Intel SoCs:
Asus ZenFone 2 (Intel Atom Z3580 or Z3560)
Asus ZenFone Zoom (Intel Atom Z3580)
Asus ZenFone 4, 5, 6
Lenovo P90 (Intel Atom Z3560)
Motorola RAZR* i

Intel also makes 4G/LTE modems.

Intel's current strategy is heavily focused on the Asian market, so we probably won't see many phones with Intel inside here in North America in the short term.

Not too sure, I know the mobile market (Phones / Tablets) are pretty much dominated by The snapdragon and Nvidia's Tegra Chips. And of course Apple's "A" line processors for their phones/ tablets.

Go here to see some smartphones powered by Intel listed on Intel's official site:
http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/smartphones/smartphones.html

Intel makes chips for smartphones but many people are unaware because there are not much popular as Qualcomm, exynos, mediatek..etc. These are good but can't beat high end Qualcomm 810, Exynos Octa 7420

I hope intel would come up with chips giving tough time to its competitors.

Intel isn't the market leader for smartphone CPUs, but yes, they do make handset chipsets. Mostly, they power smartphones from companies that already make PCs.

Otherwise, Qualcomm is the brand you see the most, with Apple and Samsung (with Exynos) falling a bit behind. nVidia's Tegra lineup is also some of the best in the business.
