I have an old Inspiron 570 that I upgraded over the years with an AMD Athlon x4 630 and a SSD, plus 8gb of 1066 ram, and a hd 5450 vid card.
I was thinking of upgrading the mobo, case and PSU, but wonder if it is worth spending 200-300 on this endeavor, or just building new with a new processor +120-200 more (haswell I3 or I5? Using the existing 1066 ddr3 and existing drives?
There is really nothing upgradable any longer on this 2010 Dell. But then again the system works. I an using this system as a business/CAD platform. Only doing 2D CAD, doubt I will ever learn 3D CAD....Just wondering if it is worth all the time and money to do a makeover of this system? I do like the fact of getting away from the Dell bios, and sata 3 would be nice for the SSD. If anyone would like to comment or advise, please do. Thank you, LT

You're going to use it for only business/Cad? Then a low end rig will suffice your need
However if you have other purposes too, then let me know i will do a nice build in given budget and changing your mobo, case and PSU wont boost your perfomance at all

Thought I might get a little on the sata 3 upgrade? And with a new mobo, I could go to the fx-8300 series eventually? Or just stay put and build new in another year or two? And all AMD mobos don't have on board wifi if I ever would use it???
