I think one of my cards is dying. How to be sure?

I use a SLI set composed of two GeForce 9600 GT, by XFX, and I think one of them is starting to die. GPU-Z don't accuse anything, but both Furmark and EVGA PrecisionX say that one of the cards is seriously underclocked (normal 700 MHz, showing about 45 MHz). I was even encountering trouble to starting up Windows, until I switched positions of the cars or started up with only one on the motherboard. This started recently and I want to make sure no software or driver (I recently installed the 341.44 driver, so it's one of my suspects) is causing this. Any thoughts?

I would confirm you have adequate power throughout the system. What is the rest of your system, CPU, drives, fans/pumps, power supply?

Doublecheck the fan is working on both cards.

You can always roll back to an older driver if you kept the installation files. Couple of websites out there that host them as well.

9600GT are getting a little long in the tooth. I wouldn't be surprised if one of them is starting to die.

My system is a Athlon 64 FX-60 in a A8N32SLI Deluxe with 4GB of Corsair 3500LL-PRO RAM and 620 W Corsair PSU. All fans working and the extra EZ Power socket is being used. Just made a test and when there is only one of the VGAs on the MB, they perform OK on Furmark. This leads me to think it's a software problem, specifically with SLI. I'll return to some old drivers and will post the results here.
