avg. new gpu or high end used gpu?

Hello guys! need a bit of suggestion here, one of my friend can sell me used r9 280x of about Rs. 16000 in indian currency (here original price of r9 280x is about 24000) which is about 65% of the original price. And it's about the top most layer of my budget. So, I was thinking should I go for used or buy new r9 270x instead of 280x?
Also, is there any major noticeable difference between the two? (At 1080p)
And I'll be playing games especially new released 2014-2015 like cod aw, unity, far cry4, dying light etc.

Games like FC4, AC Unity and similar all make use of the extra GB of VRAM. I would recommend the R9 280x over the 270x any day! You will get much better performance. Just make sure that the GPU is in good working condition from your friend.

I'd suggest the 280x for cheaper. I bought an old 7970 about 2 years ago to put in a bitcoin mine, mined with it for about a year or so running on 100% GPU usage 24/7. Almost a year ago I shut down my mine and dedicated the cards to gaming. I flashed the 7970 to a r9 280x bios (effectively overclocking it a fair chunk in the process) and it still runs all my games without issue.

I also have 2 7870 Myst Editions that were used in my mining rig that are now in my GFs gaming box, and they both run reliably as well. All three of these cards have lasted beyond my expectations considering what they were used for.

Hey! what exactly mining is? And how does it affect gpu?

it will handle it but its on the borderline and the cx PSU's arent that great but youll be fine, mining is when your computer uses its resources to mine bitcoins (i dont really know how to explain) and it effects it by making it work the whole time which wears it out

Mining is the process used to generate bitcoins, basically massively parralell number crunching, which GPUs excell at. It affects the GPU by running it full tilt 24/7, causing immense ammounts of wear and tear, and massive amounts of heat (gpu cores were regularly seen in the 85-95 degree range).

Its not really worth doing with GPUs any more so I stopped ... and had extra GPUs to then dedicate to gaming.
