So I have this external HDD (WD 1TB) that has this file with random numbers and letters ( about 20 - 30 character long ) that has a couple of files in it but they all seem to be empty. When I try to delete it, it says I do no have the permission even tough im the admin. I tried changing the permissions, and I am indeed the admin and I have all rigths but still can't delete the file.

I have concidered formating my drive, but obviously, I'd like to look at all my options first.

Is there anything I can do for that?

Try this tip: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/how-to-delete-a-system-file-in-windows-vista/

Of course, replace the filename in the example (C:\Windows\System32\...) with the path of the folder you're trying to delete.

Couple of things you can try:

Right-click on the folder with the random numbers and letters and select "Properties".
See if the Read-only Attributes is checked; if so un-check it.

You can also right-click on the folder, click the "Security" tab, click on "Edit..." and/or "Advanced", as see if changing any of the settings in those two sections will allow you to delete the folder.

Did both, option #1 was already unchecked, option #2 did not do anything as I already have all the rigths according to that tab.
