Hi, I just bought a reference gtx 970 for £300 and saw this comment about parts of the reference design being of bad quality?
Is this true? Need I worry? (Look at comment section)

Saw someone saying:
"I just wish they used better components in the Reference designs. The coolers are top notch, but the caps and chokes are second tier. " which was responded to by:
Yes, reference designs generally have less effort/attention to detail into them.
Is this true?
I'm worried because I just spent £300 on this thing..

No they are not bad at all. The only possible drawback is since they have 1 small fan (instead of multiple open-air large ones like many non-reference cards have) they can be a little louder when running under full load

They aren't that loud compared to other cards, and they do a good job of getting heat out of the case. In some situations this will make the overall system temperature a lot lower compared to some of the big axial coolers which may make them quieter. And on your GTX970 it should do slightly better then the GTX980.

First DBA is idle, second is after an hour running a game. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/nvidia-geforce-gtx-980-970-maxwell,3941-15.html

Noise Level (Open Bench Table)
Idle
Gaming Loop
Gigabyte GTX 970 Windforce OC
31.8 dB(A)
41.8 dB(A)
GeForce GTX 980 Reference
31.4 dB(A)
43.6 dB(A)
Gigabyte GTX 980 Windforce OC
30.4 dB(A)
40.2 dB(A)

As to the VRMs, caps, and chokes, they look just about the same as the ones used on the other products, just less of them. Which might mean a little less capable when overclocking, but nothing to be concerned with.
