Hello,

My desktop is connected to my ISP's modem/router via ethrenet cable. Everything works fine, although I do lose connection at random times. However, I live in an apartment building with a front door buzzer that calls our phone so we can let guests in and my connection is dropped every time that system kicks in. I realize I'll have to contact my ISP to fix that issue.

Here are the specifications I could find about my router which is a Sagecom Fast 4350 (or Bell Home Hub 1000)

dsl modem/wireless router
PHY modes: bgn
Manufacturer: Pegatron
CPU1: Broadcom BCM63168U
RAM1: 128MiB
WI1: Atheros Ar9381 3x3:3, bgn
WI2: BCM53124
Switch: 10/100/1000 4 LAN, 1 WAN
USB 2.0, 2 ports

Speeds: Down - 50mb/s, Up - 10mb/s

Also the router produces only a single 2.4 GHz band with about 3 tablets, 4 phones almost consistently connected via wifi, in addition to my desktop which is connected via ethrenet cable. I do a ton of gaming and streaming simultaneously.

My question is:

1. Considering I do not connect through wifi, would it be a good idea to get a higher-end router like an Asus AC1900 or a Netgear Nighthawk to get a better/faster connection? Or just keep the ISP modem/router as a new router would (maybe) only produce the same numbers.

2. Any suggestions on how to better set up internet would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your answers!

That is addressed after the main router fix. Apparently, you have a crappy router.
Fix the first thing, it might fix all.

That needs to be fixed. Period. There is no way I would put up with that.
And that needs to be diagnosed via a tech from your ISP.

The technician came in and realized that the person who installed the new internet line did it completely wrong. Once he bypassed the front door buzzer everything was working correctly.

The internet is not cutting out anymore, and my speeds are actually at what I'm paying for, also WiFi is working correctly.

Thanks!
