before hooking up my computer i tested the motherboard and power supply, both worked perfectly, my motherboard was posting.. so i continued to build my computer, when i finished wiring and pushed the on button, my motherboard would not post, and none of the debugger leds were on. the CPU fan would turn on for a second and then turn of. it would repeat this until i unplug the powersupply...

I have the stormtrooper case that has led/fans connected in, a hot swap drive, and usb3.0, that is connected into my motherboard, and all the power to every drive is plugged into the powersupply, i have 16GB of ram... What in the world am i doing wrong??????? why is my motherboard not working??? can some one please help me??

I did the bench and it took a couple of tries but the power came on and the leds started flashing. i plugged one thing at a time and each time adding it turned on,. the only thing i didnt do is plug the case in to the power supply and motherboard.. could the case draw too much power and blow the power supply?

Shouldn't if all working outside the case, would guess a missing standoff, or screw, maybe the mobo was touching the case somewhere it shouldn't or the like. Make sure all standoffs are in the correct place, mobo attached with screws at each standoff, case wiring plugged in correctly and try again

i placed the motherboard in the case and screwed it in and turned it on and i got nothing. its something to do with the case/screws/standoff... could having a wrong type of screw cause that problem?

after doing a full bench test and turning on and off the motherboard everytime i added something, i found it was the back plate that u attach to your case saying what ports are what. one of the prongs that push against the board was bent and was touching the inside of the usb ports. after bending the prongs back and putting the plate back the short went away and the computer is up and running. thank you for that tip!
