PC Stuck in Single Channel Mode?I recently noticed through the "My computer" properties that only 3.9 out of 8gb are usable. The BIOS says single channel mode, however the RAM is in the correct slots, corresponding and closest to the CPU. Any suggestions?
specs
-windows 7 Home premium 64bit
-amd fx6300
-asrock extreme4
-patriot 2x4gb RAM

Try the sticks one at a time and see if they register. It could be that one of your sticks is bad.

For dual channel on your m/b, the ram sticks must be in every other slot, meaning you have to skip one in between and they must start from the slot closest to the main power connector, not the cpu.

When I put that RAM in the other 2 slots the computer does not start, it never did. The RAM is in every other slot already, starting at the CPU.
