Good day folks. Happy Friday.

After much deliberation i bought a new (to me) PC for in my basement recording studio. It was a decent deal and the owner seemingly babied it.

I would like to know if i can put an SSD for the OS in this computer as well as a secondary 7200RPM HDD. If this is possible what do i need to know beofre i go shopping? Compatibility with my mother board i would guess? I know this is an older PC so would i need to consider driver issues? Power supply issues?

What do i need to know / look for ?

Also, i am considering actually downgrading the video card as well. I think this machine was more tailored by HP for gaming, but i will strictly only be using this for tracking and mixing audio. Is it worth my time to chase down a smaller Video Card with dual monitor capability ?

Unless you are trying to save power, I can't think of any reason to downgrade a video card.

May I ask why you want to install an SSD? As long as the machine takes SATA drives the SSD will "work" in there, but you would have to transfer the OS to it or buy a new copy of the OS and do a fresh install. An OS SSD will make software loading / opening faster, but not make anything that you are doing run any faster. That's why I ask what you want to accomplish.

EDIT: Oh, I finally saw that the model was in the subject. Yes, that will take SATA drives, all right. Seems fairly recent, last five years or so.
