Greetings fellow cybernauts,

I'm currently building my 1st pc, i'm going with an AMD fx-8350, Asrock 970 extreme 4 Mobo and a 2x4gb hyperX fury, and *maybe* a NOX Hummer 750W bronze. I'm really undecided on which gpu i should get. I'm going to do some rendering, video editing, basic gaming (lol Hs, cod, etc).

Some people say i should wait 2 months for the new 300's series of AMD (because the 200 series prices will drop), but its getting really frustrating to work/do some simple gaming with my laptop (toshiba l650 1pn). I've looked into the MSI/SAPPHIRE r9 280, any tips on those?
Also i think i should get at least 3bg vram, that's why i searched more in the 280's range.

Also because the fx series doesnt have integrated gpu i cant really just use it for a couple months than buy an external gpu.

Thanks in advance.
BUDGET: 200$ (give or take 15$)

Well for 200 dollars ish~ depending where you live. Try going for the r9 280x, although it's basically an older 7970ghz edition. Alot of the r9 280x's also have crashes due to being an overclocked 7970, however many still have perfect gaming on them anyways.
If not the r9 280 will do you good ;) they released a new version of it (the r9 285) it only has 2gb's of Vram which I agree isn't enough anymore.
Also with the r9 280 if you're lucky it'll match near performance of an r9 280x.

Anything from Nvidia at that price range is only 2gb's, so AMD is the way to go.
About waiting for the new series, by rumour most of the new series will be rebrands again anyway. So they might actually be the same thing just cheaper. Only the r9 390 is...

R9 280 is your best bet or r9 280x. Best value in that price range for more Vram/performance. Prices are already at an all time low on AMD.
If you buy one and have problems post back here and Ill reply, 280x sometimes needs to be clocked down 100mhz on the memory.

-good luck ;)

I'm going for the 280 (simple version) here in portugal is at about 190-230 € depending on the manufacturer and where i buy it.

Thanks for the insight :) I might just wait until the 300 series come out though.
