any idea what SLIC loader is????

my other pc did an update and then rebooted and and now i keep getting a screen about a slic loader v 1.4.6 and i cant find really nothing on it and have no idea what it is.
any clue on what the hell it might be??

Have you ever had Linux installed on this?
What is the exact error message?
Where did this Windows install come from?

slic is what oems use to activate windows, and loaders emulate that activation on pcs in order to bypass entering a retail key. the slic is normally a part of the bios of the board and needs a cert on the hard drive that matches the bios for it to work.

it will at least let you run it for a bit to get data off until you can get a retail key.

just a note: you don't need to re install windows if you get a key as there is a cmd that you can enter to change the key and then activate.

Actually, for an 'illegal copy', I'd highly suggest a full wipe and reinstall.
It's not just the key/license details...but also, what was the actual install? The majority of bogus OS installs also carry loads of malware inside.

In any case...there is no 'fix' for your situation.

Either buy a legal copy of Windows, or use a different free, legal OS.
Assisting with a fix for this is strictly disallowed in here.

Is this a OEM machine or a homebrew? If its an OEM like Dell or HP, it probably had Vista on it and he used the loader to install 7. In that case, we would be able to help you put Vista back on it. The license would still be valid.

I meant the computer your using now. The XP license wouldn't transfer. Is yours an OEM or homebrew?
