Hi Guys,

I just bought a new PC online and I am having a load of issues with it and the company is being useless to me so I was wondering if you could help me fix the issues.

I will start with the first one, it came with windows 7 and I wish to install windows 8. I have a flash drive prepared but I noticed that my display doesn't show anything before it boots into windows. It doesn't show the motherboard information or the windows loading screen or anything. There is just a blank screen for 20 secs and then I am in windows.

I tried to install windows 8 from opening the setup file in windows 7 and it prepares everything but then as it restarts there is nothing again. I also tried pressing delete as it starts to try and get into the boot menu but then I just have a blank screen and nothing else which makes me think that it is doing something but for some reason it wont show me what is happening before it loads into windows.

Sorry if I'm not making much sense, I just got up. I can supply a video when my GF comes home if needed, my phone camera is not working.

Thanks for your time,
Walkers

Well, there's a couple of things that could be happening. First off, it may not be the 'delete key', it could be F2, F1, Esc, or some other odd combination of keys. Did you get a manual for that PC? Or can you splash the model # up. You can obtain this by running 'msinfo32' (i think that still exists in windows 7) it's on the first page.

Also, it is 'possible' the BIOS doesn't like the keyboard. 'IF' it has a PS2 port, obtain a PS2 keyboard will let you into the BIOS once you figure out which key it is, and it's still not working.

One thing you can 'try' is to remove a stick of RAM, sometimes the BIOS at boot will say 'hey, my ram has changed hit f2 to enter setup'

The System Model is H81M-S2H. I have tried all the f keys, but as it doesn't show me what's happening I it might well be going into the BIOS menu or the boot menu but I just can't see it.

I'm using a monitor.

You just have to be faster than the PC when it starts up. Multiple, rapid keypress on Delete.

I do but the issue is that I can't see anything on my monitor before it boots into windows, so when I press delete or F12 it just stays on a blank screen and does nothing.

Some pc's boot so fast it's difficult to grab the 'del' key. Or it's that way on purpose, for example I have an old PC that has 'superboot' in the BIOS, which skips POST, and uses previous settings for faster boot, no splash, nothing just 'windows is loading' when you turn it on, but you can still catch the BIOS key, as it boots slow so, just try hitting del quickly after power on.
