Ok, I'm getting a new computer. The motherboard I'm looking at comes with an Intel H97 Chipset. Intel's website says that this uses PCIe 2.0, but the boars it's self has a 16x PCIe 3.0 slot. I guess what I'm asking is, does it matter that I'm putting a PCIe 3.0 graphics card (GTX 970) into a 16x PCIe 3.0 slot, when the board has a PCIe 2.0 chipset.

Also, the gpu needs 2 6x power slots. Will i be able to just use a 16x slot for both of these.?Thanks.

No, it's not going to matter. Even if the H97 chipset does not support PCI-E 3.0, PCI-E 2.0 would still fully support your graphics card. The GPU requires two 6-pin PCI-E power connectors from the power supply to supplement the 75 watts of power it receives from the motherboard PCI-Ex16 slot.
