Transferring Alienware x51 HDD To New Build?

Hi!

Recently I built a new PC and I am in need of a HDD. My Alienware x51 has a 1TB HDD but it includes the OS installation, but I've already got the OS installed on my SSD in my new build.

Is there a way to move the HDD whilst keeping all of the files and stuff, but not the OS?
Or is there somewhere I can back up all of my files so that when I format the HDD and swap it to my new build, I can get my files back?

Thanks in advance,

Synthh.

Sorry, but I'm not completely understanding what you're saying.
I need to add a partition to my 1TB HDD with all of the stuff, and then move the files over to the fresh install/partition?
Is that right?

No, it won't fit on the SSD (256GB).

Another question - is it actually possible to move the HDD from an Alienware x51 to my new PC?
Do Dell lock it in some way? Because I know that the OS recovery disc can only be used on Dell PCs.

I haven't split the 1TB drive.
I was thinking about just putting all of my documents on a usb or something and then formatting the drive.
Besides, I'd need to reinstall everything, wouldn't I?
