I've used a D-Link DWA-125 wireless internet adapter for, forever. Its been giving me a ton of issues lately and I think its time to get something new. The only problem is, I don't really know what to look for. So I ask: What's a good wireless internet adapter that can handle a 150/30 mbps connection.

(Other info. I'm using a windows 7 desktop for online gaming. Budget: Preferably something under 40 dollars Canadian.)

As Bill said above, wireless is always a bit touchy when it comes to gaming. If you can connect to your router with an ethernet cable, you'll have fewer issues.

This one might fit your needs. It's USB, but you attach it with a USB cable, so you can position it for best signal, AND it has antenna.

this one might also work:

If you want to consider a PCI adapter, this one would be pretty good:

No chance for $40 but you can get much better than you have.

Your first problem is there is no 802.11n device that can run 100m even though they claim all kinds of things like 450m.

You are going to have to go to 802.11ac but that likely means you must buy a new router and 802.11ac routers that can actually run at 150m are not cheap.

Besides if you are trying to run games on wireless you are likely to have tons of problems with any adapter. Games do not tolerate packet loss or delay and wireless is badly affected by any neighbors you have using wireless.

Since I'm still living at home, the parents are against the idea of an ethernet cable. I used to run one back in highschool, but my mom hated the amount of tape I had to use running it from end to end of my house haha.

I'm wondering if I can at least get something that works. (I used to game on this adapter, but when we upgraded the internet, it just hasn't worked as well.) I may try the first link you gave, seems better than the Dlink I have at least.

I think a PCI card is off the table, I have a massive graphics card and I doubt I could squeeze it in under it.

Ok you might also try powerline adapters... next best thing to direct ethernet, and much better than wireless:

You can get a basic set for $30.

You can even get a setup that provides a wireless access point at the other end, and 2 ethernet ports.
