I would like to Overclock my CPU & Speed up my Ram to what it should be.

Hello again everyone,
I recently purchased a bundled Motherboard, CPU, Cooler & Memory from AMDI UK LTD via Amazon, this is a link to the items for full details,
http://www.amazon.co.uk/COMPONENT-Overclocked-Gigabyte-Vengeance-Component/dp/B00SYGMIH0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1426387330&sr=8-2&keywords=PC+COMPONENT+BUNDLE+%28Intel+I5+4690K+Overclocked+4.2GHz+Quad+Core%2C+Gigabyte+Z97P-D3+DDR3+HDMI+4K%2C+Corsair+8GB+1600Mhz+Vengeance+LP+DDR3+RAM%29+Component+Bundle
As you can see, the CPU should be Overclocked @ 4.2Ghz and Memory @ 1600Mhz.
Now, as some of you already know, I am relatively new to the PC building game and unwittingly I added a duplicate pair of 2 x 4 Gb Corsair Vengeance Ram to the set up.
This has reset the retailers configuration back to standard i.e the Intel i5 4690 is back to 3.5Ghz and the memory is now running back at 1333Mhz even though all memory stick are the same 1600's.
a) Can I set both CPU & RAM back to retailer values.
b) Will it make noticeable difference to my machine.
Thanks in anticipation.

I just expected you to glance over the vocabulary and compare those items to what you find in your BIOS.

Now check out these guides for Haswell:

I haven't played with the platform enough myself to give you more than general OC advice.

But RAM is easy, you just set the frequency and X.M.P. for the automatic timings, and adjust the voltage to 1.65 if it doesn't automatically do it for you.

Hi damric, I take it that you know how to do it and are familiar with B.I.O.S but I don't and am not. Unfortunately the manual ,just kind of gives the meaning of each item that I might find in B.I.O.S but not how to use them, specially not how to overclock the CPU or increase the Ram value to 1600.
If it did I wouldn't be asking, would I?

Hi again damric,
Sorry If I sounded harsh, didn't mean to, I just feel as if I have thrown nearly my whole savings away, buying gear that isn't what it should be.
Can't believe that ADMI UK LTD could think that every single PC User who purchased from them, would know that fitting extra memory to their setup would result in changing the speed of the CPU & Ram. They simply refuse to help now that they have the money. Amazon are on the case now.
Anyway mate, it looks like you have gone to a lot of trouble in finding this information for me and I am very grateful. When I have tried, I will let you Know. Cheers, Vince.

Hi damric, said I would come back with results. Well, I'm afraid I am just too dumb and frightened by BIOS. I simply don't understand all the terms given, so I am sure to make mistakes. Decided to leave well alone, or look for a local noob who can do it for me. Only way I could do it is: a) do this. b) do this etc.
I pick you as solution for trying anyway, cheers friend.

Hi damric, please ignore the private message. have had a play in BIOS and found a few things:
a) There is a old profile left behind by retailer in XMP changing it to 1600Mhz but Memory Frequency and Voltages are locked on Auto, so can not change them.
b) Almost every other setting in CPU and Memory are also locked on Auto, making things even more complicated for me.
c) The CPU appears to be constantly running at 3.9Ghz not the standard 3.5Ghz, almost as if it is stuck in Turbo.

So I will take you up on your offer of coming back to you if I ever change my mind? Your a good mate, thanks again, cheers, Vince.
