Adding Second SSD Drive

Hello I was looking to purchase a second SSD drive and was wondering if it was worth it to extend the current SSD drive I have as I would buy one that is identical as to what I have or should I just use it as a stand alone drive for my games. The current drive I have is a toshiba q 256 gb and I have a mixed array of drives totaling 3 tb that has all of my files and holds most of my games. So I was wondering if it would be better to get an identical SSD to extend my current one or add it as a standalone drive or should I get a hybrid drive for running games as the drives I currently have are old and since it they are extended they run at the slowest drive speed so some games take forever to load.

Thanks for any response.

what kind of budget do you have? probably be best to buy a larger capacity drive just for your games, but then your 256 GB probably isn't being filled as it is, so extending it to a raid 0 would give you the most capacity per dollar.

For some reason the drive is almost full and not sure as to what is feeling up the space. I am going to have to do some research on what is causing it. I am wanting to upgrade the older drives I have so that they are reading at a faster speed then the 5400 rpm speed and was thinking of possibly getting a hybrid instead of another SSD to use for the files.

hybrid generally will only offer the SSD speed to operating system tasks. you might find better performance in games, definitely compared to an older 5400 drive, but a dedicated SSD for games would ultimately be the best choice in terms of performance. to be efficient though, a hybrid would give you a better range of improvement, but also render your current drives to be useless. since you already have an SSD for your OS, the hybrid wouldn't offer any benefit there; and typically the data on your hard drive(s) wouldn't be as time sensitive, and wouldn't see improvement either.

Ok thanks for that I will give it a check and see since I have not tweeted anything since I reinstalled the OS and left everything default.

So it would be better gaming wise to get a second SSD to install the games on and just use the other drives I have for the other files I store on it. Since I can delete and install as needed getting a second 256 SSD drive just for game would be best.

Found out some games installed on c drive and not the other ones that ate up the space and changed out the page file to run from different drive in machine to see how that works thanks.
