Ram and Disk running really high.

Trust me, I wouldn't have started this thread without looking for my problem's answers online. But I am not a very smart computer user, and I haven't found the exact answers to my problems.

My computers Ram is running really high all the time. I go to my task manager and under the task manager (even with "show processes from all users" clicked) it shows I am using not even 1gb of ram. But it will show that my computer is running ~3ish gb of ram. Then if I want to run a game, that will shoot up a lot and sometimes even close the game from using too much memory. I have run every malware program everyone has recommended and updated everything on my computer. Is it just an issue with my ram? Should I be buying new sticks?

My Disk is also a high percentage, jumping up to 100% a lot, and jumping between 20% - 80% constantly. I am running Windows 7 ( some people said that 8 has an issue with that ). I have made sure to update my drivers completely but not doing anything.

Any help?

welcome

EDIT: This is a link to my photos showing my ram and disk. I don't really know how to post pictures, so this is the best I can do.

The 1st image posted is simply too small to read anything. The 2nd image shows RAM at 31%, and disk at 28% which looks to be within range.

Games do use a fair amount of memory, but it looks like you have 8 GB which should be enough. When you run out of RAM, a swapfile gets used in the hard drive, so that may explain the high hard drive usage you are experiencing.

I would run CCleaner to clean up some of the background internet gunk for starters.

Run CleanMem to better monitor the RAM usage, and keep the unused RAM free and available.

Finally, if you are running Google Chrome for a browser, I suggest going to Firefox as users (including me) had issues with Chrome using too much RAM. It is technically a memory leak.

That 31% and 28% is with nothing running except firefox. The first pic is a little small, but I am able to make out that the numbers only add up to around 600mb of memory, but my computer is running at 31% which isn't even close to what is really running. I only do run firefox, google chrome was starting to slow down severely for me. I ran all the programs you mentioned, and nothing is working sadly :(
