Hi Team,

I have a issue here, I my wireless router 10.0.0.1 which is connected to my local area broadband provider whose IP range is 172.16.0.1-172.160.0.255. Now what I wanted to achieve is, access other local broadband connected clients windows media library via my laptop connected with my laptop. If I can connect without Wireless router than I can able to see the others machines in windows media player libraries but I think due to change in IP subnet while connecting through netgear router I am not able to do the same.

I have already all the ports which are necessary for windows media player on my netgear router but still I am really not getting any success.

This is link which I followed for ports.

So you have a router provided by the ISP and off that router you have your router setup, but you used a different IP for that?

Change the IP of the wireless router to match the 172.16.0.x range and remove that from DHCP scope. Put the DHCP range from 2-say 150, and make the router IP 172.16.0.151.

This post has some more details on how to setup a second router off a first one http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/33700-42-ultimate-modem-router-setup-thread

The image is here imgur.com/yAqNkVD I dont know whats the issue is with tomshardware why it is not showing.

Well See I do not have ADSL modem in between broadband provider and my wifi router because this is local broadband provider who provide a LAN RJ45 cable dirctly to home, now thing is that I can't see network computers of broadband which I can see by connecting that cable direclty to computer. I think because of change in subnet my windows 7 can only show those clients which is connected to my wifi... well please see the image and help i just want to skip the wifi router. I was thinking to do sub netting but I think i am studpid to do that lol..

How are all the computers connecte? Is everything on the router? If it is, they are all on the same network and should see the other connections, all would be on the same subnet. The ISP connection goes to the router's WAN port, all your computers then connect to the router's LAN ports.

Hi,

All other local broadband clients connected as LAN RJ45 wire which comes from provider switch. Technically I can see them if, I do not use my Wifi Router. As in the image other clients connected to network 172.16.0.1-255, My wifi router(external interface) also got 172.16.0.110 IP, So the clients behind my wifi router which is 192.168.1.2 or 192.168.1.3, unable to see the clients of 172.16.0.x network. I know what I wanted to achieve is might be very different. But I want to see other clients using my wifi router .. Any how..

Windows Media Library sharing (and DLNA in general) depend on UPnP protocol, which uses non-routable protocol for broadcasts. So, if you are behind a router, you won't be able to see DLNA servers outside of the router (and vice versa).

The fact that you are able to see other media libraries when connected directly means that these other computers are also directly connected to the "internet" (which in your case is 172 network). The moment any of these servers is placed behind a router, you will stop seeing it, so enjoy it while it lasts (or while ISP blocks it).

Technically you are 100% correct about all DLNA stuff and I knew that also. But may be there will be a way that i can achieve it.. and by the way broadband provider is dump and he will not block it because 172.16.0. is internal network and all clients connected to a switch
