Hello everyone,

I built myself a new PC a month ago and ever since I've been having an issue with my display. The screen used to randomly flicker, more like it having a very fast hiccup. You may also call it a very rapid and sudden distortion.

First I had a R7 260X installed, I used to have these screen issues and eventually a total lock up/freezing after a certain amount of time. I tried the usual driver update routine but it didn't work. So I though the Graphics Card may be faulty and got a GeForce GTX 750Ti instead. Ever since I'm experiencing the same hiccups less frequently and hopefully no more lock ups or freezing. The screen hiccups/blinks are still there. A technician also tested the 260X and told me it is working fine.

The hiccups get worse and worse as my PC runs for longer periods of time. So If I shut down my computer and turn it on again, the hiccups are gone but will slowly come back over lets say a couple of days. The hiccups also tend to come back or get worse after sleep.

I have several theories:

1. My monitor is good and I also replaced the cable but the same problem persists. But there are quite a lot of wires running through the back of the monitor and PC case and I believe they cause interferences/noise which are transmitted to my monitor. I also hear a high frequency pitch noise with my studio speakers which I did not experience when using my laptop. So I believe this noise is generated from all those wires, even possibly from the WiFi expansion card that I have installed.

2. Maybe the electricity of my apartment is unstable?

3. My PSU is a Seasonic M12II 620W which I heard doesn't support the latest Haswell C6/C7 or power saving features. Although disabling those in BIOS did not help, but maybe the PSU is just not compatible with my PC parts?

4. Lastly, maybe the cables inside my PC case are badly positioned?

Any help will be greatly appreciated,

Thank you!

The clue may be from the high pitch sounds from the speakers. This is a sign of high surrounding electromagnetic waves distrotion,
created not from the wifi card, but from high voltage lines. If the pitch of the sound constantly changes, it may be from satelitte dishes close by.
If its a constant pitch, its from power cables.
1. Check around your PC and Monitor for any clumps/tangles of cables.
2. seperate the data cables from the power cables place them far away as possible.
3. Do you have any big Amps anywhere close to the PC <0.5m? ie Sound systems, big radio hifi systems?
Then move them or move the PC into a different room.
4. Get some data cables that have sheilding on them ie foil or double sheath sheilding, gold/platinum plated heads.
5. Also because your in an Apartment, there would be MANY electric cables in the walls, wich will create alot of interference.
Your only solution to this would be to move your PC in different positions and rooms.

Hope this helps
