What to do after building a new system?

So I've just built a new system. What are the tests and benchmarks and other fun stuff I need to do to make sure everything works and (barring catastrophic failure of some kind) will continue working for a long time to come?

(also, how long should those tests be run for?)

Memtest 86 for the memeory:

Furmark for the GPU:

http://www.ozone3d.net/benchmarks/fur/

Prime 95 for the CPU:

http://www.mersenne.org/download/

Also you will need to monitor the temperatures. Use:

If you have an intel based system, do NOT use any version of PRIME95 OVER 26.6. It will kill the cpu.

Just to confirm, this is the one I SHOULD use right? Like, if I use this one my i3 will survive the wrath of prime numbers and stuff?

Yes, use the p95 version I linked run it for about 2 hours

2 hours if you wanted. They won't really hurt the system. I just leave it for about 2 hours
