Hi,

Is there a way to turn off selected USB ports on my computer when the computer is off ? because when I turn my computer off my mouse LED stays on and I only want to turn that port off so I can still charge my phone while the pc is off.

My motherboard is : Asus Maximus VI Hero

Regards

If my memory serves me right, then Asus has a feature where it'll charge a device while its on, basically keep supplying power through the usbs. You must go into the bios, and it will probably be in the energy saving options.

Read the manual. What I mean is every motherboard is different. So ask Asus or read the Manual. Maybe there is an update for this in a new BIOS version. Bios May have settings. For instance if you want the computer to wake on event normally you can choose some key on the keyboard or the mouse or the network. If you turn that on your mouse might light up, if you turn it off maybe you will not be able to use sleep mode.

You could buy a mouse that does not light up???

You could buy a usb charger or powered hub that plugs into an outlet.

When I go to the bios settings only these two options turn off the usb ports while my computer are off : Disable S4 or Disable S4+S5. However both these settings turn all the usb ports off , I only want some turned off..

I'm afraid you won't be able to select which USB Ports will be on or off, their either all on or all off. I've never seen a motherboard with such a feature to select which USB Ports get the Charge On/Off Feature.

I know that this post is old, but I just found out how to do this in my PC. This was the number one search result on google so I'll throw an answer here.

If you have an ASUS motherboard, there may be a setting under Advanced, then APM (or something similar). Within that page you'll see an option to select s4/S5. Set it to that and in the description it will say something along the lines of getting your PC ready for EuP power save mode. This will shut off power to USB devices when the computer is off.
