So I recently built a new pc. Ran some speedtest and my 2007-8 laptop download speed is 15.92mbps and when I ran it on my new pc it has 4.90.

Solution
Well if you go to the settings I recommended, that should help some.

Your new pc can probably use wireless N at least, which can go up to 300Mbps (from wireless g's 54Mbps max). It may even do better, depending on what it is.

Hey, I just noticed you helped me before when my wifi is super slow because I was using Rosewill USB adapter. I bought a new adapter and although it can run the internet fine, I cannot game because its really slow. I ran some speedtest and sometimes it even go to as low as .74mbps in download speed

Wireless speeds depend on so many things. Are you using 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz? What are your router settings? What wireless channels are you using.

There's a free software called INSSIDer that can help you figure out if neighbors wireless networks are interfering with yours.

You need to log into your router to check wireless settings. Check the user manual if you have it, or you can google it pretty easily. Usually it's at 192.168.0.1 but can be different depending on make/model.

thats a pretty old router... have you had it for awhile? It doesn't even have wireless N.

You might want to look into a newer one, either from your ISP (internet provider) or ask if they will let you buy your own, and have recommendations.

Yes that could definitely be a reason. also your desktop may be up against a wall or something that blocks signals. Wireless is really flaky that way.
