GTX 960 power consumption in light gaming?

Hi guys,

tried my luck with another question (too specific) recently. I need practical numbers on the power consumption of the GTX 960 during light gaming, ideally while playing Dota2 at 1080p, maxed out settings and with VSync at 60hz. All the internet gives me are numbers for idle (10W), blue-ray (12W) and then maxed out gaming (100W+). The consumption while playing Dota2 should be somewhere in between and I would be interested in the exact figure.

If you have the GTX 960, have a Kill-a-Watt device, a 1080p monitor with 60hz refresh rate and a bit free time, I would be super greatful and happy if you could tell me (roughly) how much power the card uses (compared to idle) while playing or watching Dota 2 games in the client with VSync turned on.

Thanks so much in advance :bounce:

I don't have a watt meter, however while playing games on pcsx2 emulator (which I believe comes under light gaming), GPU-Z shows a very very low reading of 10% TDP in Total Power Consumption, and the fans aren't also spinning at all.

Now, coming back to your main question regarding Dota 2 - Well I read somewhere that in MOBA games GTX 960 is as a low as 30W.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the info, even if it's a bit vague. I think there really should be a benchmark kind of thing for card efficiency, to me this is much more important than 1 dezibel more or less noise from the fans or 1 degree more or less temperature on the card.

I guess we will have to wait until the prices for electricity explode even more before this is considered interesting consumer advice.

Thanks anyway and have a nice day

Thanks for linking that video. I will mark that as the solution, even though they are playing LoL which is a bit less demanding than Dota2 but I guess we can assume it will be about the same in Dota.

Thanks again
