There is 8 GB corsair LP ram on Asus Maximus VII Hero motherboard, which are 2 sticks of 4GB. There are 4 slots on motherboard. I have two questions about upgrading this 8 GB ram.

1. If same pair(2x4gb corsair LP) is inserted in remaining two slots, will it work flawlessly?

2. What if I want to upgrade it to 24 GB? will 2x8GB corsair ram work if inserted alongside 2x4GB ?

thanks!

1. It should and in most (>99.9% I'd say) cases will, but if it doesn't your warranty WON'T apply. Anyway, it'll almost surely work, so go for it.
2. It will work but it may cause errors reduced speed and such, not recommended.

It might work and it might not, simpla as that - there are no guarantees - even with the same exact model. If it was as easy as so many would have you think, the manufacturers would simply sell single sticks and make much more profit. Each packaged set is of sticks that have been tested to work together.

current 4gb sticks are fixed in RED slots of motherboard, leaving two black ones. will it be better to put the remaining two sticks in remaining two black slots or move current RAM sticks close to each other and also the new pair or it won't matter. note that currently, one ram stick is skipping one black slot empty. if u look at motherboard, it will make sense.
