Been playing Insurgency for about 7 months now, performance on max graphics settings at 1080p was:
80-250+fps
Then at about the same time a new game update/patch came out my FPS dropped to 40-150fps (with anything under 60fps being jerky), so obviously I figured the update was at fault as I can max out BF4 with 110% res scaling and still maintain 60fps+ no problem. A few other people have reported FPS decrease also about the same time the patch was released BUT there are A LOT of people who claim that the latest patch is fine and that something on my end must be wrong and my CPU is probably bottlenecking?!
So even though I'm not sure that that is the case I've started digging around my system and while playing Insurgency my system usage is:
GPU 10-30%
CPU 28%
So that's not bottlenecking right? Bearing in mind when I play BF4 my GPU usage is 98% (where it should be).
On the advice of people on the Insurgency forum I've tried various things to "fix" performance:
Reinstalled the game
Rolled back to an earlier GPU driver
Lowered in game graphics settings (this made no difference so something is deffo wrong)
Set GPU to "performance mode"
Set GPU to "Quality mode"
Set GPU settings to default
Making sure Windows is seeing all 8 CPU cores
And various other things but so far nothing has stopped my FPS dipping to low 40's. I'm no beginner with PC's but I'm no advanced overclocker or anything like that either so with a bit of guidance I can do most things.
FYI I've been running Prime95 on my system for an 1hr now just for the sake of it and I've found no errors there so is there anything else I can do to totally rule out problems at my end?
My spec is below, worth noting that people on the forums are seeing better performance than me now on lesser specced PC's than mine:
Win8.1
AMD FX8350 4.0GHz (Stock clocks)
EVGA 780 Classified (Stock clocks)
MSI 990FXA GD80
16GB Corsair RAM
Coolermaster Hyper EVO 212 CPU Cooler
Corsair TX750 PSU
2x Samsung SSD's
This spec should easily max Insurgency out at 1080p with 80-250+FPS just like it did pre patch.
