Crazy screen flickering in Far Cry 4

The title says it all. Something seriously weird is going on with my Far Cry 4. It takes about 4 minutes to kick in, and then the flickering is so bad it's almost like looking at stripes. It actually makes me feel dizzy after a minute or two, so it's rendered my game virtually unplayable.

If I go to the desktop (by running task manager or similar) and then go back into the game the flickering has gone, but another 4 minutes later and I'm starting to get all dizzy again. The problem also occurs in windowed mode.

I need help. I've tried everything I can think of, and find online, and the problem still persists.
I've done a full graphics driver re-install (and clean install), tried all manner of quality settings, changed nvidia control panel settings, fiddled with Uplay settings, and so on.

If anyone has any ideas then please do let me know, I'm close to pulling my hair out over this.
I feel the need to point out that I am running at 5960x1080 resolution, hardware is in the description.

Solution
Single screen has the same issue too, although it takes a tiny bit longer to kick in.

I also ought to point out that I managed to rack up 37+ hours in the game before this issue kicked in. No settings changes, no driver updates. Nothing. One day it's fine, and the next it's flickering like hell.

There was a guy on the Steam forums that claimed forcing 16x AF in NCP alleviated flickering in SLI, but I remain skeptical.

Word is on the Steam forum that Ubi are aware of this problem with SLI and are working on it. If it's as severe as you're indicating, you might try unplugging one card vs just disabling it.

If you have the new VotY DLC, try playing it and see how it compares to the main campaign. Since 1.9, the main campaign is unplayable for me because I get big screen freezes every couple minutes that last several seconds, but VotY plays fine.

I'm on just a single 7970 btw.
