Hello guys..a friend of mine recently bought a new pc so he gifted his old,bad-state pc to me.
I am playing csgo and i cant get more than 40-50fps in game idc why.
So i decided to plug the graphic card of my friend's pc to mine. The problem is that i dont know if it will fit to mine, and if it's better. Here i want your help!
My specs are:Windows 7 Ultimate x64, Intel Core2 Duo CPU E4600 @2.40Ghz, 4,0GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 9600GT(http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-9600-gt/specifications)
The other graphic card is:AMD Radeon HD 5570 2 GB(http://www.amd.com/en-us/products/graphics/desktop/5000/5570)
So shall i change the graphic cards? Is it better than mine?If yes, where can i find the drivers of this card?because i use only nvidia and i dont know about ati cards
Also should i take his processor too?( Processor Intel (R) Core (??) 2 Quad 2. 4 GHZ)
Thanks in advance!

Looks like you should be fine :) According to the CPU support list, you should be able to drop in the Q6600 and it should work for you. The Q6600 still holds up very well in many games from what I've seen, too. It might need some overclocking at some point, but it is still a solid CPU for this scenario.

The only concern I have would be the power delivery. The Q6600 uses 40W more than the E4600. But given that the 9600GT used 50W more than the 5570, it should balance out :)

From the little info I have on those cards, it seems they would perform about the same. The 5570 is slightly newer, though, so it might be nicer to have. You can google for AMD graphics drivers, and they have a similar website where you can download drivers.

I would change the CPU if they are compatible, though. The quad core should perform better in a lot of games compared to your dual core.

they are very similar, i would say the 9600gt may have the edge in older games, but it does not support dx11 only games (games that mustr run in dx11 mode). the 5570 is a dx11 card. I wouldnt expect any performance increase by swapping cards.
You cant get more than 40-50 fps because you have an old pc with low end gpu and cpu.

thanks all of you for your fast answeres...so you say that the amd is better than nvidia...okay so i will change them
also the cpu is better than mine right?but can i swap them?are they compatible?how can i know?after the change should i do anything else something like drivers or etc?or all that i have is to plug them?

You will need to get the AMD drivers from their website. For the CPU, if they are indeed compatible, we need to make sure your motherboard BIOS supports the other CPU, and it should work without needing drivers.

To check if the CPU is compatible, we need to know more details about it. Most Core 2 processors used the LGA 775 socket, but having more details about your motherboard and the CPU would help figure out if they are compatible.

oh okay here are the full specs..i am about to do it so please if you can answer fast it would be great.
my motherboard is P5k(http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5K/),my CPU Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E4600
(2M Cache, 2.40 GHz, 800 MHz FSB(http://ark.intel.com/products/32242/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-E4600-2M-Cache-2_40-GHz-800-MHz-FSB)
and the other that i want to put is Processor Intel (R) Core (ΤΜ) 2 Quad 2. 4 GHZ(http://ark.intel.com/products/29765/Intel-Core2-Quad-Processor-Q6600-8M-Cache-2_40-GHz-1066-MHz-FSB)
so what do you say?

wow great really thanks my friend
so it will work and its plug and play right?no drivers?
both of them are way much better than mine, arent them?
i think that i have good power supply so i dont think that will be a problem

Yeah, upgrading CPU's is usually not a big issue. The only thing that would need upgrading is BIOS version, but the CPU support list says all versions support the CPU's you have, so you should be fine. Just make sure you replace the thermal paste and properly seat the coolers.

okay then i will give it a shot because its really annoying playing your favorite game like this
i anyway have the latest update on my bios
i will keep in mind these suggest..but i will it be a big deal to replace them?
you didnt mention...amd+q6600 is much better than e4600+nvidia right?

Not much better, but better. The graphics cards are about the same power, but the AMD one is newer, which will be better for more modern games. The Q6600 is definitely better than the E4600, but most games depend more on graphics than CPU, so the difference may not be as noticeable depending on what games you play. The AMD+Q6600 is then the better combination, but don't expect it to double your framerate or anything like that.

oh i see i see..i dont want to be much better, but at least i want 60 stable fps at csgo so that i dont play with spikes...my fps are something like 90,but when i am playing my fps random drop to 30-40-50..idk why
but generally my pc will be better so it worths to swap them i think

okay i will swap both tomorrow then and i will tell you the results...do you have any graphic card cheap that is good?a cheap but decent graphic card
okay these are good news xD
any tips or ideas why i have that low fps?is csgo that heavy program?

The GPU you have is rather old. The CPU should still be good, but the graphics card is not particularly powerful.

What do you consider cheap for a graphics card? You'd need about $100 USD to get a worthwhile upgrade, and I'd recommend trying to get a $200 graphics card for the longevity, if possible. It really depends on how much money you have available.

going back to some older benchmarks, you can see the 5570 is quite a bit slower than the 9600gt......
the only thing the 5570 has going for it is that it can do dx11, but it kills its performance majorly.

hmmmm i see epsilon..i dont want to give more than around 60-70 usd because my pc itself is old....
thank you too iam2thecrown for your specs that you gave but you confused me ahaha xD...idk what should i do
shall i swap only cpus and no graphic cards then?

Oh, wow. I didn't think they would actually have benchmarks of the two cards together. I was going off the Tier list for this one, since I didn't expect there to be any head-to-head comparisons.

It looks like the 9600 GT is indeed the better choice. Although it is still an old card, so I would still recommend upgrading if possible.

yes definitely swap the cpu to the quad core, that will help straight away. But yes, maybe keep the 9600gt. You can swap it if you like and try it, but going by benchmarks its a bit of a waste of time. Keeping in mind i think there is a faster version of the 5570 with faster memory that came out....
Crysis-1920.png

yes i have a good memory, but even the ddr5 version is still slower than the gt240, which is similar to the 9600gt.

$60 to $70 will get you at most a GT 730, and even then that's assuming a good deal. That's not going to be a massive upgrade from what I can see, but I can't find specific benchmarks of it against either the 9600 GT or the 5570, and even then only the fastest 730 is likely to be faster than those cards. I'd probably at least save up $30 more to have ~$100 and try to get a 250X; the CPU is still good for modern games, so there's no problem in pairing it with a $100 GPU.

yeah i see...so the upgrade isnt for me yet hehe..thanks anyway for you research
soooo guys today i swapped both cpu and graphic cards and it seems that csgo working better with amd...i dont know what to do...keep amd or nvidia?hahahahaha
