New PC Gaming Build Freezing After a Few Minutes of Gaming

I'll preface this by saying I'm pretty new to this building-your-own-PC thing. I'm having problems with my new build freezing, losing the ability to do anything. Can't CTRL+ALT+Delete my way out of these. There doesn't seem to be any sound post-freeze either.
I mostly cause it to freeze when playing (or rather, attempting to play) games. It can handle playing music, surfing the net, and other relatively mundane tasks. I can play Total War: Shogun 2 for about five minutes, Minecraft for 20 to 30 minutes, Company of Heroes for 10-15 minutes, Arma III won't even launch (though I'm not sure if that's related to my main issue). I was able to play Terraria for a good 20-30 minutes before I went back to trying to find the issue. No problems with Minesweeper, Hearts, or Chess thus far, ha. Here are some other things I've tried.

- Drivers are all up to date as far as I can tell.
- It appears that the Windows Updates are all installed now (finally).
- I ran Memtest86+ for a couple hours (about one and a half passes) with no problems.
- PC froze within a minute of starting prime95.
- It froze after a minute or so running FurMark (GPU temp was around 71°)
- Tried to debug a memdump, but it doesn't save any dumps when it freezes. I've had one BSOD, and I managed to check that memdump (while hopefully resolving the issue there).
- I installed the heat sink for my CPU with about a pea-sized blob of Noctua NT-H1 thermal compound right in the middle.
- Used CMD to check the disk last night without any problems.
- Using HWMonitor to watch temps and voltages
- Uninstalled NVIDIA GeForce Experience, or whatever that was.

Right now (basically idle), the temps are:
Mobo:
SYSTIN - 41°C
CPUTIN - 31°C
AUXTIN - 1°C
TMPIN3 - 40°C
CPU - 5°C
HD - 32°C
GPU - 37°C

Here's what I'm running:
Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 (OEM) (64-bit)
AMD FX-9590 4.7GHz 8-Core OEM/Tray Processor
Noctua NH-U9B SE2 37.9 CFM CPU Cooler
ASRock 990FX Extreme9 ATX AM3+ Motherboard
Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866
MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V Video Card
SeaSonic Platinum 1000W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply
Creative Labs Sound Blaster Zx 24-bit 192KHz Sound Card
Asus PCE-AC68 Wi-Fi Adapter
Noctua NF-F12 PWM 55.0 CFM 120mm Fan

I don't suspect any other hardware is relevant. If I'm wrong, let me know. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Solution
You can cool the FX 9590 with Air. You just need the best cooling you can find. If you want quiet you go Noctua but you may need to change the fans for even more powerful ones. NH-D15 would be a good place to start.

The Phanteks PH-TC14PE is worth mention. But it is about even with the D14.

For serious fluid cooling, which is what AMD recommends, I'd bypass the H100i and go to the Swiftech 220x or 240x. This is an AIO custom rig with the flexibility of a custom rig, and the price and safety of a AIO. Nothing cheap here, however.

What is your case?

Do you agree with my analysis of your temps? You should be able to get an air temperature coming off your existing cooler that will give a better idea of your true temps...

Cooler Master Centurion 590. The one part I didn't have to buy.

I think I do. It makes sense. The CPU temp seemed low to me, but that's what I was getting from HWMonitor. I'm not sure I think you can take ambient air (72° F) and cool a CPU to 41° F. I'm a mechanical engineer, so I suppose I could do the math, but until I do, I think there's a very good chance you're correct. I'll stick a thermometer in the outgoing airflow to double-check. Thanks again.

Okay, I finally got a Thermaltake CLP0587 on my porch yesterday. I put it on there, and the issue is no better than it was, maybe even worse. I'm probably going to pull it back off after I get home from work and reapply the thermal grease. I never did stick a thermometer in the airflow because I can't seem to find any around the house. Probably pick up a new one soon regardless. Any other ideas?

What are your memory settings? Does your computer freeze if you run only one stick? Is the voltage on the memory correct? 1T or 2T Command rate?

Pull that sound card out of your machine - I have never ever had good luck with a sound card. Its a easy item to rule out.

Asus PCE-AC68 Wi-Fi Adapter - why? Pull this out run the bare essentials.

Mobo, CPU, Video Card, Memory, HDD..... ditch all of those PCI-E peripherals.

I would boot with 1 stick on memory. If it still freezes - try a different slot then, try another.

Is there a BIOS update for that Mobo/CPU? - What are the voltages?

This sounds like a power issue.

20-30 minutes its pretty quick to lock up for CPU temps. Neither of of those games except arma is demanding.

Are all the correct power cables hooked to the Video Card and Mobo/CPU?

Never mind. You were right about the cooler I had not being enough. I took the new one out and reapplied the thermal grease. I suspect the face that makes contact with the CPU may be a bit convex. I ended up using more thermal grease than you would typically use. It's been running fine so far with everything I've tried since then. I haven't run Arma yet...

Thanks for your time, both of you! I'll take what you said into consideration as well, as general information, acedl.
