I have an amd card and I want to install my friends nvidia card for troubleshooting reasons. Can i install the nvidia drivers without unistalling my amd In order to not take out my gpu?

Solution
You don't have to un-install your AMD drivers. However I think you'll need to take out your AMD GPU. I think Nvidia put some kind of lock on their drivers to stop people from running Hybrid Physx (display card as AMD, and a cheaper Nvidia GPU as a physx only card).

So you'll probably have to take out your GPU, but can keep your AMD driver on. You can try it if you'd like though.

-good luck

Well the most recent was the AMD omega drivers. (14.12) they won't release a new driver unless there's problems with games crashing, bad performance etc.
If you have problems with your driver start a new forum post for help.

The Nvidia card should always Idle when the AMD card is installed. So if the OP is testing his friends card on games it will not test effectively.

I got this information from 2 other forums, So I'm pretty sure I am right.

Which is not what the above quoted post says and also not what I've been seeing when I've looked into the possibility of using an AMD card and Nvidia card in the same PC, and it's also not just for gaming that two different cards might be being used for.
