Hello.
I have 2x1TB drives that I would like to have in RAID 0 configuration (Yes, I have regular backups, let's not talk about that here).

I also have 2 SSD's (NOT Raid) from Samsung and for some reason Samsung magican does not lke that confiugration. I show that I have 5xSSD and doesn't allow me to check SSD state or anything.

I was thinking about buying "external" raid controlle just for those 2x1TB HDDs.

How those controllers work? Will my MB see HDDs connected via that controller as regular "normal, not raid" drive?

My MB is: Asus Z97-AR

Excuse me but what do you need magician for ?

Yes, Magician does not work when the controller is in raid mode but what do you need it for anyways ? If you need to install the firmware update you can power off the computer, unplug the 2 raid0 drives. bootup into the bios and change to ahci mode and then boot to windows to run Magician. After that you wont use it again for years so why waste money on a raid controller?

The issue with getting another raid controller is that your current intel based raid will not just plug in and work. You will end up wiping the drives when you create the array anew and then reload it from your backups.

If thats the way you still want to go then Marvel based controllers usually work well with the intel...

I know I have RAID controller on MB. I'm using it right now. But it messes up completly Samsung Magican (Softere for managing SSDs from Samsung) . This is why I want to use external one.

You are right. I'll do it like that. What about thost optimization features of Samsung Magican.
