Hi,
I already bought parts for my pc
I5 4460
Asus h81m-plus
Gigabyte r9 280. Im now waiting on the psu and the case to come in. I had a look on the gpu box and it says minimum psu requirements needs to be 600w and i orded the corsair vs 550w from msy but i havent picked it up yet so i can change it.

I herd the vs series isnt very good but does anyone recommend the coolermaster thunder 650w or the thermaltake litepower one? I think they need to have around 40amps.
Can someone recommend the best one? Does anyone have the vs 650? Is it loud or does it have any problems?
Thanks

That 600w recommendation is just to make sure that poor 500w power supplies won't be used with it. You don't have to keep that recommendation with the R9 280, the XFX 550w is a quality power supply and will be more than enough.

Power Supply: XFX TS 550W 80+ Gold Certified ATX Power Supply ($99.00 @ PLE Computers)
Total: $99.00

Do you think so?
Because i might over clock the gpu to its boost. Normal is 950mhz and recommended is 1150 or somthing close to that.
Do you think i hold get the vs 650W? Only $20 more.
What abot the other psu i said ? Which one is better

Dont u think $95 is to much for a 620w? But i guess its a good one as it it certified.
I might be able to go with that one u linked me if u recommend it.
If not ill go with the vs 650W.. Alltogether with the psu u linked is $934
Thanks

Ohk, but what if i wanted to overclock the gpu? Woudent i need more power. Do you think the coolermaster or thermaltake is better than the vs series? Im just not that keen towards the vs550
Thanks

You would never go more than 20% over tdp anyway, which gives you a theoretical max of 300w. In various reviews of the card its nowhere near this, and I factored this into my original answer anyway.

CM + thermaltake are just as painfully average as the VS.
