Once or twice a year one of my neighors would do something to cause a power outage and that is enough to destroy my computer or the PSU so I decided with my new computer build to buy a UPS this time.

I tried Googling instructions on how to buy a UPS but it's too technical for me. I'm looking for a UPS that will give me enough time to properly shut down my computer in case of a brief power outage. My computer parts will consist of:

Corsair AX850 PSU
Asus Hero VII MOBO
I5-4690K
GTX EVGA 980 Overclocked
HDD
SSD
Asus Swift 27"

For your power supply and monitor, you would need a 1500VA UPS to provide sufficient power in case of an outage. More expensive units just provide power for longer, since all you need is enough time to shutdown, I would look for the least expensive unit from a reputable brand.

It's a bit expensive, but what choice do I have but by chance one of my neighbors would fry my very expensive computer. In the last three years I've only had 3-4 power outages caused by my neighbor. Not really glad to buy a UPS since this 200 hundred dollars could be used to buy other things.

Thanks for your advice!
