The case I'll be getting is the Fractal Design Define R5 and I'm also getting G Skill Ripjaws X and A noctua Nh d15. Would I have any issues/Closing the side panel.
I've already ordered the parts as well, i was originally going to go with the NH D14 but I saw the 15 was only ten bucks more and just bought it not thinking about RAM Clearance

Thanks

The case should take the 180mm tall cooler, as for ram the ripjaws is around 40mm tall I think, which might work out.
Thanks to its recessed lower fins, the NH-D15 provides 64mm clearance for tall memory heatsinks in single fan mode, making it compatible with most high end RAM modules on the market. In dual fan mode, the NH-D15 should be used with standard height RAM (up to 32mm).*
PCpartpicker with the compatibility checker has now issue with all three together (case, ram and cooler).

The NH-D14 cooler has 44mm clearance, it might have been the better choice o0

So the r5 supports up to 180mm cpu coolers and the noctua is 165.
ram clearance for the noctua is 32mm in dual fan mode and the Ripjaws X is 40mm so if I were to raise the fan above the ram by 8mm so the ram would fit then the height of the noctua would be 165mm+8mm= 173mm and the define r5 supports up to 180mm so would I be fine in dual fan mode
This Math probably doesn't make any sense but how bad would it be if I ran in single fan mode instead

You have plenty of room and the ram is fine with both fans.

The front fins of the NH-D15 generally protrude over the RAM slots. Due to the recessed lower fins, it is still possible to use RAM modules with up to 64mm height in single fan mode. In dual fan mode, the front fan will sit above the RAM slots as well. In this case, Noctua recommends using standard height RAM (up to 32mm). However, in chassis with more than 165mm CPU cooler clearance, the front fan can be moved upwards to make room for memory modules taller than 32mm (e.g. moving the fan 5mm up will increase the total height from 165 to 170mm and make room for 37mm tall modules).

All I could find is that it has an HSF of 170mm, is that the same as CPU cooler clearance

Really new to PC's so thanks

I have a NH-D15 with Vengeance ram, and have no problem with clearance. However the second fan doesn't fit properly and looks ugly as hell. If you have a closed case it wont be an issue, otherwise I didn't see a temp difference from 2 to 1 fan, maybe a degree or 2.
