hello guys i wanna buy a new pc controller to play games cause i wanna tryu them with a controller and should i buy xbox 360 wired controller or ps3? and which is better cause i play a lot of games!

Solution
I think just about any game made in the last 5-6 years will support the 360 controller. The same cannot be said of the PS3 controller, as you've seen.

Personally, every PC game I have supports the 360 controller.

A wired 360 controller in my opinion I find it to be FAR better than the ps3 dualshock 3 that thing is awful. The ps4 controller would be alright but it is still better to get a xbox 360 wired or a xbox one controller since they are pretty much plug and play on windows, i believe you need to download drivers and stuff to use playstation controllers not sure though they may have changed that.

As a word of warning, Microsoft no longer supply the wireless PC adapter - even those on Amazon that claim to be official Microsoft products are cheap knock offs. As evidenced by the reviews, for some people these adapters work, for some they don't.

Personally I bought the wired version rather than spend extra money on a wireless controller that would end up being more trouble than its worth. If wireless were a requirement I'd have bought a different controller that still had official PC wireless support from the manufacturer.

I was not aware of that, I have one of the white official ones that I picked up some years ago and since I already had an xbox 360 I didn't want to buy a wired controller. So I guess if you stumbled across a non-knock off one I would go for it. It's kind of cool to pull emulators up on the big screen and have some friends with wireless 360 controllers playing old school mario kart.

Any idea why microsoft stopped supporting the wireless adapter?

anybody in the uk (or eu if amazon uk ship to you) should just buy one of these

absolute 100% compatibility with the 360 controller & also has a switch to change to directx input for older titles
pad is very good quality, the wireless signal is excellent, a charge lasts a good 12+ hours of playtime & the vibration functions also work perfectly.

these only support 1 controller per dongle ,not 4 like the official microsoft dongle

They still support it as far as I know, but they no longer supply it as a standalone product. There's plenty on eBay and the like that claim to be official, but the fact that you can't buy one from any 'proper' shops plus regular reviews from people who buy one and then say it clearly isn't official is kind of telling.

It seems you can get the wireless controller for Windows with the adapter included, including from Microsoft (it doesn't say it includes an adapter, but it's not listed as a requirement so it must do), but when I was looking I only found the Microsoft website one and it wasn't worth the extra cost to me.

Another warning about that as I (thought) I bought one - Xeox make two versions that look almost exactly the same: one has the PlayStation circle/square/etc on the buttons, the other has the X/Y/etc of the XBox. Only the second one supports XInput which is a lot more important now with newer games. Not knowing this I'd collected the first one and ended up changing it for the official controller. I wouldn't say the sticks and analogue buttons felt quite as good as the official one, but the rubberised covering and overall shape was a lot nicer.

The XBox 360 controller for Windows is a Microsoft product, so as compatible as you can get.
