Broadwell-K (fits Z97 LGA-1150) Anyone know the likely cores/Ghz configs coming?

Solution
Quad cores definitely. Probably in the 3.5-4.0GHz range, like Haswell, maybe a little bit higher. IPC will be a bit higher so at the same clockspeeds Broadwell wil be 5-15% faster than Haswell.

Broadwell won't be a big upgrade, and by the looks of Intel's roadmaps it might be replaced by unlocked Skylake parts only a few months later.

If i had to guess probably not too much of difference from haswell. i5's will have 4 cores 4 thread (maybe 8 threads if they decide to hyperthread the i5's). i7's will probably be 4 cores 8 threads and maybe a more expensive 6 core 12 thread option.

Thanks for all the replies guys! I'm specking my future system, so I'm trying to look at the choices from a lot of angles, including what might be down the road.

Much as it pained me, I bailed on an AMD config early on because of 1) performance, 2) dead-end mobos for their latest cpu/socket, and 3) there were a total of 9 mobos for it. With intel this time around, I'm literally spoiled for choices.

If Intel had come out with a quad with 4Ghz base at the 5820K's price, I'd definitely be decided on X99 / 2011v3 - that's my tipping point to absorb the +$180 platform (Mobo and Ram) hit the X99 requires.

If something like a hex core around the 4790K's speed might be in the works for the 1150, then that's a point in favor of picking that platform and waiting for it, comfy like with a 4690K!!

If you use the integrated graphics, then Broadwell-K will be a big upgrade. If not, then it won't be much of an upgrade. The integrated graphics are supposed to be spectacular.

I like the added bonus of the integrated graphics. I live in a very rural area, I mean gators and bears freaking-out-the-cats (and the UPS guy) rural, so it's nice to have a backup if the video card comes DOA.
