Lot of AM2 boards support a good chunk of the AM2+ CPUs with a BIOS update. More important to know the wattage the board supports.

Would really need the exact motherboard model to give you an answer. There were quite a few revisions of this particular Dell model.

There is some hope that a 1st gen Phenom chip will work in there. Phenom II chips as in your other post are not likely. Only the premium AM2 boards from that era would have supported the newer AM2+ Phenom II chips.

I had an Athlon X2 6000+ at 125W in an ASUS M2N SLI Deluxe, waited several years before a BIOS update was available that would allow it to run a Phenom II X4 at 3.0Ghz. (Update came out about 2 months after I switched to Intel)
