Run 2x Corsair Air Series AF120 LED Red and the 2 stock fans of a (corsair spec 03) case and perhaps control them with fan expert 2 if possible.
was thinking of using y splitter.

You could use two fan splitters.

So if you have two motherboard fan ports. Put two splitters in and you will get 4 headers. But it also splits the speed of the fan too. If you had a fan running at 2000RPM that means that the splitter will make it so that you now have two fans each running at 1000RPM.

Luco if he did that then he will have extremely loud fans. Not saying it's a stupid idea but I would much rather 4 quiet, adjustable fans

And no it will not overload the header. The header is still giving the same amount of power, the power is just benign split between two fans rather than one.

No, the molex splitter plugs into the PWM socket on the mobo:

So all fan speeds would be controlled simultaneously and show up as a single reading.

And are you sure that powering two fans from one mobo header halves their speed? because that's not what I've heard.

so that plugs into the 3 pin header then plug the rest of the fans into the molex adapter

It's exactly the same as using a Y splitter into the motherboard, it's just that the power is supplied directly from the PSU. Using 2 fans per header is probably fine, but more than that and direct psu power is preferable.

Even with a y splitter you're only ever going to get a single pwm signal per header, so for fan expert ALL fans connected to that header will show as a single fan and will be controlled in sync. For this reason it would be best to group your fans by brand & rpm to give consistency.

You can't control a 3 pin fan via a 4 pin header, it will run at full speed - and 0.4amps is only about 5w, so even just a pair of 120mm fans may be cutting it close (a single 120mm fan can draw up to 3.5w, although most brands draw less than this)

I think if you're wanting to use fan expert 2 then you will need to replace your 3 pin fans with 4 pin fans.

fan expert is controlling my 3pins with voltage atm changeing it from my silent setting to turbo or full the led fan glows more and speeds up being louder and shows the rpm

Ah fantastic, it must be picking up on the lack of pwm signal
