TP Link adaptor (WN822N) reading constant 117 mbps, but speedtest only gets 40mbps.
Getting 117mbps with ethernet cable connection.
I can see two connections on my laptop. The original is showing 64mbps and the new one 117mbps.
I have fiber optic (installed recently) and the router is supplied by the provider.

Solution
40Mbs throughput on a 117 Mb wireless link isn't unreasonable. Since WIFI is half-duplex (send OR receive but not both at the same time) you cut the link rate (117) in half for BEST CASE. Your wired connection is full-duplex (send and receive simultaneously), hence the double speed.

What speed are you paying for from your provider?

Your local network speeds will be based on your device locations and network capabilities of your router.

Speedtest results will be based on a combination of the above and the bandwidth provided by your ISP.

Hi Kanewolf,
Thanks for that information, it makes sense. The little adapter seems to be doing it's job, because I now get a constant 5 bars instead of the 3-4 I had before.

Hi g90814,
I am paying for 110mbps. I used to be paying for 3mbps, before Telefonica Spain upgraded to fiber optic recently in my area. So I can't complain about getting 20-30mbps now :)
Anyway thanks for your answer
