Hello. I would like to ask for advice on what could possibly be happening. I have reapplied the thermal paste on my card and now the temperatures are higher than they were but also lower. It's just very weird. It idles around 33-36c but when I ran Kombustor it reached 80c. It also did the same when I was playing battlefield 3 multiplayer. I have good airflow in my computer for sure the front intake easily suchs up a tissue. I wonder if it's the termal paste that I need to wait on. I didn't get a very good brand but it was from a local computer shop. I mean after looking at many formus its not that ig of a difference with different paste.

Thanks for the answers.

The diagram is when I started BF3 multiplayer and then stopped it as you can see the huge drop on the end.

Thermal paste brand's can make a difference but not a huge difference, as long as you applied the paste correctly then you should be fine. 80 degrees on load is not bad, how many fans do you have? Do you havedirect airflow to your card and how many intakes or exhausts do you have?

the most worrying part of that graph is the sheer speed of the climb from 70 to 80, if you hadnt stopped it it would have gotten a LOT higher than that (like 100+, which of course trips the thermal throttling etc).... Is the fan on the card properly ramping up speed as the chip gets hotter?

Thanks for the quick answers, yes I have afterburner. Im speeding fans to 70% from 50c till 70 from there, higher. What seems to happen is that when the card is on 100% use thats when the temps rises so much. Its frustrating because if I turn on V-Sync in Battlefield I play a little lagging with 55% gpu use at around 68c. As soon as I turn it off I get fps around 80 and butter smooth gameplay just the temperature rises like above. And you know when it does especially? On loading screen doing a jump like on the graph above...

Since posting this I took it apart and re-applied again. I cleaned it with 99.9% alcohol. Applied around a pea size and spread it evenly. Same problem still. I'm wondering wheter the thermal paste in between those little resistor looking things matter. I couldn't quite clean it out.

Fans I have a lot. 1 Intake 2 Exhause and I have two fans inside the case helping and directing the airflow on the cpu and the card. Have a Zalman Z3 plus case and it hase that rail where I can attach fans in the case.

Still no clue about problem...

Could just be waiting time on the paste? Would that matter this much that I could change this scenario so it doesn't rise above 75 ish. I'd be fine with that.

Okay here we go some other tests to help the diagnosis.

I ran BF3 Multi with High settings and V-Sync ON for like 10 mins and stood on a spot. These are the results MSI Afterburner showed.

Then I changed the settings to Ultra and turned V-Sync off, game ran smooth but in about 2 mins the temps went crazy going up 10c more. I stood on the same spot and this is what I got.

Here comes the extreme part, when the round finished... the on screen display showed me this. I'm like WHAT?!

I'll keep you updated so I tell you as much as I can so you can help better. I neeeed help!
