I have tried pressing F2/Delete when I reboot my ASUS Z97 Deluxe motherboard but I cannot access the BIOS screen. I have rebooted and tried again but still nothing. I have also pressed the button to clear the CMOS but still nothing. Can anyone please offer any assistance with this problem?

hit del key couple of times, as soon as you power on

How did you do the clear cmos? To do that successfully, you have to unplug the computer from the wall plug and press the clrcmos key a view seconds. I would try the clr_cmos jumper on the motherboard too.

what keyboard is it? brand and model

There is only one way to access the BIOS on this motherboard. This is this boards only fault. Turn off the main power or unplug the AC. Remove the BIOS battery for about 10 seconds. Replace the battery. Power up your computer and press either DEL or F2 on boot. This is a real pain in the arse if you have a GPU card, because you have to remove it to get at the battery. Using the Clear CMOS jumper is simply a waste of time, it just doesn't work. You have to remove the CMOS battery.

If you have a second video card in the second pcie slot, then the problem with the CMOS battery is an issue. If you have just one card, the battery is no problem to reach, if the card is installed correctly in the upper first pcie slot

Update bios to latest version

I've dumped the bios numerous times, removed the battery, removed the fast boot software, used delete, F2 and still no bios. The F8 keyboard key works during post . The computer performs perfectly except for not being able to access bios. The board is an Asus Z97-A USB 3.1.

I don't have a solution, just looking for an answer. Worked with Asus for a couple of days withb no help. I guess I'll try to find an old keyboard next, but like I said earlier, the F 8 key responds as it supposed to.

I just solved this problem on my new Asus Z97-A board by moving the wireless keyboard and mouse wireless dongles from the back side board USB ports to the two front panel USB ports. The Asus one touch bios software shortcut on the desktop started working also.

I have a similar issue on an Asus Z97-WS.
It seems that as soon as I change something in the BIOS I can't access it anymore.
DirectKey is not helping.
DirectBIOS Windows application is not helping.
F2 and Delete during post is not helping.
Disabling fast boot is not helping from BIOS or Windows application is not helping.
Changing POST delay to 10s or setting it to ESC is not helping.
Reflashing lastest BIOS did not help.

What works for is:
Use the Clear CMOS button on the motherboard but that's a pain cause you need to open your case and you loose all your settings obviously.
Unplug all bootable device which is also a pain cause you need to open your case but at least you do not loose your settings.

Not matter what I do it looks almost like POST is not happening at all and thus you don't get a chance to enter the BIOS.

Is my mobo broken? Do I need to RMA?
I have not contacted Asus about that yet.

I see quite a few threads about similar issues and Asus motherboards on those forums.

My Asus Z97 problem with not being able to properly access the bios was completely solved by plugging the wireless keyboard and mouse in the USB ports on the front panel. The F2 key opens the bios. The only problem was the keyboard and mousse while plugged directly to the rear motherboard ports were not working when the pening page of the bios opened, thus it appeared the bios screen was freezing.

Switching the keyboard and mouse to the front operating panel USB ports completely solved my problem.
