New CPU: AMD FX 4300
motherboard: HP Pro 3305

I have updated the BIOS to the latest version that I could find and the PC still won't boot after installing the CPU. When turning on the PC with the new CPU installed, the LED light on the power up button does not turn on and the monitor is blank, but the fans still spin. When downgrading it back to my old processor, AMD Athlon II X2 260, it works fine. The only problem that I have had in the actual installation of the CPU is that the stock fan that came with it has 4 pins, but the motherboard only has a 3 pin slot so I just used my old fan, which I believe is the stock fan for the AMD Athlon.

Solution
That motherbd cannot run that processor:

AMD II X2 Dual Core Processors (HP Pro 3305 only)
AMD Athlon II X2 220 Processor (2.8 GHz, 1M L2 cache, 4000 GT/s System BUS)
AMD Athlon II X2 225 Processor (2.9 GHz, 1M L2 cache, 4000 GT/s System BUS)
AMD Athlon II X2 250 Processor (3.0 GHz, 2M L2 cache, 4000 GT/s System BUS)
AMD Athlon II X2 255 Processor (3.1 GHz, 2M L2 cache, 4000 GT/s System BUS)
AMD Athlon II X2 260 Processor (3.2 GHz, 2M L2 cache, 4000 GT/s System BUS)
AMD Athlon II X2 270 Processor (3.4 GHz, 2M L2 cache, 4000 GT/s System BUS)

AMD Athlon II X3 Triple Core Processors: (HP Pro 3305 only)
AMD Athlon II X3 450 Processor (3.1 GHz, 1.5M L2 cache, 4000 GT/s System BUS)
AMD Athlon II X3 455 Processor (3.3 GHz, 1.5M L2 cache...

I think that the motherboard is no compatible with that CPU, that's an AM3+ CPU, however finding information about that motherboard is hard but being a pre built system I doubt it would support AM3+

And judging from the above list it would seem that you are also limited to 95w processors or less

Solution
Good chance your motherboard is Not compatible with the FX4300. From what I found your mobo is an AM3 board and the FX is AM3+,
Sorry, but nothing I have read about that PC indicates it supports and FX processor. It has a 785G chipset and specs for that chipset do not specify FX processors.

Papa, where'd you find that list? I was searching while you were typing but didn't find anything close to this.
