i'm new to pc building but i learnt a lot over the past few days, does anyone have some tips to what to update first?

I want to get a MSI GTX 970 4G first, its around 300 euros on amazon. But i know there will be a lot of bottlenecking with the CPU (though i'll probably be overclocking it and burning it up before getting an i5 or i7)

I cant even seem to unscrew the PSU though... i know its going to be tricky but i simply dont have the money to build a PC from the ground.

PSU first. It's the foundation. Your old PSU may be nearing the end of its useful life as its capacitors degrade. Plan what you would want to put in the box and get a high quality PSU of 500W to 650W which will drive one of just about anything. (except 295x2 and/or FX9590 :)
