Yes, the 4690k is currently putting up very slightly lower numbers than the 4790k on most current game titles, however, if the OP is building this system to remain relevant for the next 3-5 years then the i7 might be a good choice. I changed the cpu to the i5 4690k because in games it will perform the same, added a liquid cpu cooler, changed the mobo to a cheaper one, but if you want to sli in the future get an sli capable one, and i changed the monitor to an IPS monitor, so the colors and viewing angles are way better.
