Hi there,
I'm facing a very funny problem and maybe i'm going to annoy you guys.
I'm trying to install a fresh copy of win 8.1 on an acer aspire laptop - over win 8.1.

The problem is, that when i boot the computer from the DVD, i don't have mouse and i'm controlling the setup with keyboard only.

When i first installed the win8.1, again i didn't have mouse to control, but i just pressed next and next with the enter key. Now i need to format my hard disc, but without the mouse i can't press format, delete or new.
If you got any idea, please, share it.

Looking forward to your replies.

Konstantin

The touchpad doesn't work? Have you tried a USB mouse in a USB 2.0 port? Sometimes USB 3.0 is finicky prior to drivers being loaded, but USB 2.0 ports normally always work with a wired device. If you're trying to use a wireless mouse, it's highly likely to not work until drivers are loaded. A wired mouse or using the touchpad should though.

There's never a cursor if there's no hardware detected. Is the mouse you're trying to use a wireless usb mouse? Are you using it in a black or a blue USB port? Have you tried a DIFFERENT mouse or one that's wired usb?

Honestly, I've never had an issue using tab to get where I need on the windows installer to manage partitions while installing. You shouldn't need to format anything. With a CLEAN install, you should delete ALL existing partitions and then install to the unallocated space. Windows will create the necessary boot and OS partitions and format as necessary, automatically. Like this:

You might also try going into the bios first to see if there are any optional settings related to enabling legacy usb. If there is, enable it.
