so the past couple of days whilst playing some mediam graphical u8sage games (wow, diablo etc) my computer randomly turns off. I had a look at whocrashed and bluescreen viewer and the title appears to be the culprit.

I have ran memtest on 8 passes with no errors. All temps seem to be fine and i applied some new thermal paste this morning just to be sure but that made no difference.

I removed a ram stick and it still happened when only one was in, even when alternating.

I also read it could be a corrupt driver, but have no idea how to diagnose that.

i have still been reading online for possible fixes and downloaded Multi Tool Box to try and find the error. One problem that always seems to pop up is;

Also, i suspected the graphics card so i completely removed the drivers using a program in safe mode and reinstalled them. This didnt work however, just thought it might be worth mentioning

Re-installing the video drivers won't fix a bad card. If you have onboard video, remove the card and test the system with onboard video. You will need to test your card in another computer to see if it's working properly.

It does so yes try that.

a hd 4800 series gpu is quite old so maybe the culprit.

You could try to get rid of the current driver for this one with the next if it isn't the tool used before,

don't know if you just got the latest drivers (?),Catalyst 14.4 by now,but these,Catalyst 13.9,i linked here are the latest supporting your type gpu.
