I have a hp laptop that uses windows 7. I have always conceited directly to my cable modem for internet acess. Just recently I jot a netgear n300 wireless router. After hooking it up I was unable to log into it. But it worked for a couple days. Then I lost all internet access. Eleven if I plug into the modem and shut off wifi. I clicked on troubleshooting and it says local area connection invalid IP address wireless connection invalid IP address. Some things I've read says to login to the router.. But it will not let me. Since my laptop and phone get access my ISP says the modem is fine so they won't do anything. I think it has something to do with the router... But I'm lost on how to fix it. And even if I take it back I can't get internet access from plugging into my modem. It's like the laptop is blocking it.. Please help I have an online business and this is messing me up! Thank you for your time

I did have access.. But now it is saying invalid IP address.. I'm new to all of this. I didn't seem to have any problems before plugging in the router. I tried doing some different command promos that I found online.. Is it possible that I did something wrong somewhere?...

Tried it.. But it says "no operation can be preformed on wireless network connection 2 while it has it's media disconnected." I tried it both while plugged in to the router and unplugged.. Not sure if it mattered so I did it both ways.

... Something else came up. It says " an error occurred while renewing interface wireless connection: unable to connect to your dchp server. Request timed out. No operation can be preformed on local area connection while media is disconnected"... So should I unplug the router from the modem and plug the laptop into it.?? Or keep the router plugged into port one on the modem and plug the laptop into another port. I appreciate your help.. Sorry I have no idea what I'm doing :)
