Hi All

Ive seen this modfication done multiple times before most the time with very low end hardware most likely due to the size constraints of the classic Xbox chassis.

I believe after extensive research i have worked out what parts i need to fit into the Xbox chassis and im looking for some verification on the compatibiliy of the parts. Id also like some recommendations on cooling options for a tight space as i have not yet finalised what im doing in this department at the moment.

Potential PC Parts List
Asus Maximus VII Impact mini ITX LGA1150
Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0 Quad Core Processor
Kingston Fury Black Series 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR3-1600
Shuttle PC63 500W PSU
4x Samsung Spinpoint M9T 2.5 5400RPM Internal HDD (RAID10)

USB Ports Usage
Depending on if it works im intending on using 2x Play TV Dual TV Tuners (formally used on the PS3). Im currently running 1 on my current PC and that works fine, just havent explored the option of two yet.

Undecided
Have not yet decided on the Optical media at this point. Im aware that the motherboard only has 4 Sata ports so i may need to consider and external USB optical drive of some sort so this may also take another USB Port.

Any recommendations im happy to listen, just note that most the parts that were listed were chosen specifically for their size to fit into the Xbox chassis.

I should probably also add, many people ask me why i want to do such a thing. I dont really have a proper answer for you to be honest, i guess i just want something to challenge myself and to say that i recycled my old gaming console. Plus i think it will look cool and retro.

Let me know your thoughts.
Thanks

Should all work.
Although I recommend if your only going to be using this for gaming, web browsing and HTPC usage, you would be better off with an A10 APU than a Core i7, and 8GB instead of 16GB of RAM. The integrated graphics are stronger and you don't need the CPU grunt the i7 provides.

Thanks for the recommendation manofchalk.

Ive taken what you said into consideration, actually i didnt really mention that the PC will mainly be used for WebBrowsing and a HTPC as you mentioned. Gaming is not so important to me because i use my consoles for this.

In regards to what you said about the CPU, you may be right it may be a little too much grunt and im probably spending too much money for this type of PC.

Id like to submit a revised list of parts that will bring the cost down a bit as well as the specifications.

Potential PC Parts List
Asus Maximus VII Impact mini ITX LGA1150
Intel Core i5-4690K Devil's Canyon Quad-Core 3.5GHz LGA 1150
G.SKILL AEGIS 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
Shuttle PC63 500W PSU
4x Samsung Spinpoint M9T 2.5 5400RPM Internal HDD (RAID10)

How does this system look?

For what you doing I wouldn't even put a i5 in to still far too over kill a i3 is more then sufficient something like a 4130 or a AMD apu will have more then the power you need to run this build lower tdp too then the CPU you listed meaning less heat and noise to cool it
